Technical Design Stuff you may need?
Grading helps you select the flooring look you want.
DIRECTLINE Timbers flooring meets Australian Standards and follows the aesthetic Boral Timber grading system shown below.
Grading is distinguished by selective gum veins, spirals, burls, insect trails and other natural features that give timber floors a unique character, as individual as a signature.
Timber flooring is not graded for colour variation or grain patterns as they form part of the natural beauty of timber flooring.
As timber is a natural material a vast degree of variety in colour, texture and naturally occurring feature can be found, even within pieces from the same log.
Sanding and finishing can also affect variation in colour and may even highlight natural features within a timber floor.
You may wish to start your research here with the Tongue & Groove (T&G) Flooring Data Sheets (PDF). This industry standard brochure assists with technical specifications for T&G flooring.
